THE JAMES WAGONER FAMILY COLLECTION

 

INTRODUCTION

 

The James Wagoner Family Collection was accessioned into the Piqua Public Library Archives and Special Collections as part of a larger donation by the Miami County Historical and Genealogical Society in November 2009.  The collection was put together as part of extensive research by Eileen Davis, a member of the Miami County Historical and Genealogical Society.  The collection is housed in a single Hollinger box containing fifteen files.  There are no restrictions on the use of these materials.

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

 

The James Wagoner Family Collection is housed in a single box and is divided into three series.

 

SERIES I:  Legal Documents and Receipts – Files 1-5

 

SERIES II:  Letters – Files 6-12

 

SERIES III:  Miscellaneous – Files 13-15

          1        Mortgage Deed with Dower – three deeds:

  1. 2 September 1875 – James Wagoner and Josephine (wife) to Levi Houser – north half of the northeast quarter of Section 17, Town 1, Range 11 (Springcreek Township) 80 acres and 20 acres off of the west end of the north half of the south half of the northeast half of Section 17, Town 1, Range 11 - $1834.33.
  2. 6 August 1877 – James Wagoner and Josephine Wagoner to Moses Friedlick – northeast quarter of the northeast half Section 17, Town 1, Range 11, 40 acres and the north half of the northwest quarter of the northeast quarter of Section 17, Town 1, Range 11, 20 acres - $500.00.
  3. 22 December 1877 – James Wagoner and Josephine Wagoner to Moses Freidlick – 30 acres of the northeast quarter of Section 17, Town 1, Range 11 - $400.00

 

          2        Guardian appointments assigned to James Wagoner:

  1. 18 September 1865 – James Wagoner appointed guardian of Mary Wagoner a lunatic.
  2. 4 December 1867 – James Wagoner appointed guardian of John F. Wagoner aged 13 years, his son.

 

          3        Receipt for tuition paid by Annie Wagner to Piqua Board of Education for the period between 1 November 1886 and 1 December 1886.  Tuitions was $1.67.

 

          4        Property tax receipts for property taxes paid by James Wagner to Miami County Treasurer on 2 June 1888 and 8 December 1891.

 

          5        Cemetery Receipts:

  1. Receipt from Forest hill Cemetery, 27 July 1891, for soding one grave.  $1.00 paid by James Wagner.
  2. Deed for Lot #11 Raper Chapel Cemetery – sold to John Wagoner for $15.00 on 14 December 1861.
