Prayer Breakfast Committee Collection
Introduction
In May 2010 the Piqua Council of Churches / Piqua Association of Churches Prayer Breakfast Committee Collection was accessioned into the archives of the Piqua Public Library. The collection was donated by the Association of Churches. The collection came to the Library in sixteen pocket folders some containing a single year and others containing two years. The collection includes the records of the first twenty Piqua Prayer Breakfasts from 1985 to 2004.
The Piqua Prayer Breakfasts were patterned after the Presidential Prayer Breakfasts and were designed to be an ecumenical event. The first and following prayer breakfasts included representatives from Protestant, Evangelical, Catholic and Jewish congregations. Each of the Prayer Breakfasts had a featured speaker drawn from outside the Piqua/Miami County area.
The records are housed in a single Gaylord 1215 box containing 93 files. There are no known restrictions on the use of this collection or of the materials in it.
Scope and Content
The collection is divided into sixteen series in accordance with the sixteen pocket folders in which the collection arrived at the Library. Each series covers the material found in one folder. The series are as follows:
