Afflicted with one of man;s strangest maladies, the body of George Taylor, 18, of Piqua, Ohio, a former foot-ball player, is gradually turning to stone. His muscles are now partly ossified and there is no known cure. At his bedside in a local hospital are his parents (L) borthers and sisters.” George Alfert Taylor was the son of Darrell Taylor and Louise Jefferson Taylor. George was the seventh child in a family of twelve children. George died on March 6, 1949. Included in this folder is the 1940 Census record for George Taylor and a copy of the information from his Death Certificate. |

Train wreck in Piqua. The wreck involved oil tank cars which ruptured and became a major fire. This wreck occurred in the 1940’s, possibly during World War II. This file contains 40 negatives of the fire and the clean-up following and were taken by a private citizen, possibly Sylvan Harris or a relative. The negatives in 12 strips have been scanned and a set of positive prints of the negatives are in this file. |
