Samuel Heitzman

Samuel Hudson Heitzman (1907 – 2004) - He was born in Piqua, the son of Charles Emerson and Sarah Nettleship Heitzman.  He graduated from the PHS with the Class of 1925. From 1928 to 1946 he served as the corporate assistant secretary of the Third Savings and Loan Association.  In 1948, he founded Heitzman Real Estate Service.  In 1957, he returned to Third Savings as president, a position he would hold until 1978 when he became chairman of the board.  He retired from Third Savings in  2001. Heitzman was very active in the community serving as president of the UVMC (hospital) from 1978 to 1982, the United Way and the YMCA. He was one of the founders and vice president of the Piqua Community Foundation.  He was awarded the Order of George by the Chamber of Commerce in 1984.
