History

The Tri-L Mothers League was formed on April 27, 1950 in a meeting of ten ladies at the home of Mrs. Jack Wilson.  The ladies heard a presentation by Mrs. Sherwood, president of the southwest district of the Ohio Child Conservation League, on the purposes of the Child Conservation League.  Mrs. Sherwood presided over the meeting of the ten ladies until officers were elected at which point Mrs. Midge Wilson, elected president, took over the meeting.  The other officers were Joyce Martin, Vice-President; Dorothy Ashton, Treasurer and Phyllis Madison, Secretary.  Club dues were set at $2.50 per year and a limit on the size of the club was place at 20 members.  Mary Williamson, Joyce Martin and Mary Ellen Hunt were chosen to write a constitution for the club.  The club was to be a local branch of the Ohio Child Conservation League.

At the next meeting, May 25, 1950, the constitution was discussed and adopted and the name of the club was adopted as the Tri-L Mothers League.  The Tri-L’s were life, love and learning.  The club limit was increased to 25 members and the names of a number of ladies who would be prospective members were submitted.  Committees were created and the Achievement Ten Program (proposed by the Ohio Child Conservation League) was adopted.

The material in this collection spans the years 1950 to 1966 with a number of breaks.
