HISTORY

The Nicklin Avenue Elementary School was opened as a kindergarten through sixth grade elementary school in the Piqua City School District.  It continued to function in this format until the early 1980’s when the sixth grade classes in the city’s elementary schools were moved to the junior high schools due to over-crowding in the elementary schools.  In the summer of 1999 the city’s elementary schools were reorganized as a result of the opening of the new Piqua Junior High School.  In this reorganization the Nicklin building became a pre-school and kindergarten building exclusively for the district.  This arrangement continued until the summer of 2015 when, with the completion of construction of two kindergarten through third grade buildings and the construction of a fourth through sixth grade building, the remaining elementary buildings were closed and demolished.
