BOOHER GLASS PLATE NEGATIVE COLLECTION

 

INTRODUCTION

 

The Booher Glass Plate Negative Collection was donated to the Flesh Public Library by the descendents of John and Dwight Booher.  The collection Consists of 131 negatives.  The negatives are 5x7 glass plates and 4x5 glass plates.  There are a few 2¼ x 3¼ celluloid negatives.  The negatives generally date from c. 1900 to the late 1920s.  The negatives are photographs of the John Booher Farm on Buxton Road and the William Johnston Farm on Aiken Road and are generally family and farm photos.

 

There are no restrictions on the use of these materials.  Block and white contact prints were produced from the negatives and are included in the collection.  These contact prints were not part of the original donation.  The collection is housed in two Hollinger photo boxes.

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

 

The Booher Glass Plate Negative Collection is divided into seven series:
