Dorothea Rudd HOF

Dorothea “Dorothy”“Dollie” T. Rudd (c.1873- 1954) –  Rudd came to Piqua from Springfield in

the early 1920’s. With the death of her husband John R. Rudd in 1934, she became the first local

African-American woman to own a local industry, the Favorite Chemical & Supply Company

(embalming fluid) from 1934 through c.1942. She was active with the YWCA. Rudd left Piqua

during World War II to live in Kansas.
