Bailey, Reporters and Printers of the Debates of Congress. 1868. On February 24, 1868 the House of Representatives voted to impeach Andrew Johnson, President of the United States. Eleven Articles of Impeachment were drawn up and on March 3, 1868 they were agreed to by the House of Representatives. The Articles of Impeachment were presented to the Senate on March 5, 1868. The trial before the Senate began on Friday, March 13, 1868.
